Art Noveau is not so much a period as an artistic shift that encompasses late Victorian, much of the Edwardian and all of ‘La Belle Époque’, leaving us a legacy of the artistic newness of the time.

This wonderful Art Nouveau style dragonfly brooch is a testimony to the attention to detail in the Sweet Romance collection. Our dragonfly must be sprinkled with stardust! He absolutely shimmers with colour in candle-light, under chandaliers or moonlight. Every movement produces a new shade  in the tiny aurora crystals. Each one shows blues, yellows, greens and purples. Sweet Romance indeed!

Art nouveau egret brooch

Egyptian look egret in a field of turquoise enamel and set with smoke crystals. This Art Nouveau styled brooch stands 3" high and is yet another fine example of the antique look jewellery in the "Sweet Romance" collection.

Enamelling was such an important part of the Art Nouveau jeweller's skill set (Plique-a-Jour being the highly expert form of enamelling used to produce the stained-glass effect that is so prominant in Art Noveau) and here you see wonderful enamelling being used to superb effect.
