Amber ladies jewellery Amber is such a wonderful material from which to fashion items such as ladies' earrings and pendants that we have created a category wholly devoted to ladies' amber jewellery. It seems only fitting, then, to write a little about this amazing gift of nature, its origins and its uses.

Amber is fossilised tree resin (not to be confused with sap) and was formed over 30 million years ago. Being a liquid in its original state that is now solidified, it can sometimes be found to contain perfectly preserved insects and plant life.

Amber is not technically a gem stone as it is not a mineral. It is, however, a most beautiful material and all important in jewellery making. Mostly, it occurs in yellows and oranges but can also be found, more rarely, in brown, black, red, green and blue.

Here, you will find yellow, orange and green amber jewellery, some of which is from the most distinctive of amber producing regions - the Baltic (over 40 million years old).

This is a fabulous material from which to create jewellery and our amber ladies jewellery category is here so that you, too, can appreciate the rich fruity colours of amber in ladies' jewellery that comprises this wonderful prehistoric resin set in quality sterling silver.
